Fall

I am surrounded by cooler temps and it is wonderful! Going to be about 75 today. Low humidity, too.

The weather pumps me up to create more art. Acrylics, oils, watercolors, ATC's, or anything. Difficult to work however, due to all my supplies are packed in boxes, taped shut for the big move in December. Hey, when your a senior you start packing early because it takes you longer.

One bright light, however, is that I can still find Lacey, my shi-tzu. She runs to the next room every time we get more boxes to fill. Good thing!

Besides all this, I am working on why I haven't got my 2010 refund back from IRS yet???

And, I'm tired. What a relief it will be to be moved and settled in.

A positive thought: God made all seasons of life; thereby God seasons our lives.

This collage has many aspects that I love. It has recycling, environmental concerns, lots of color and patterns and something different, A Flash Mob.

POMPEII REDONE

This Altered Book I created is about more than the art or Pompeii or icons of music; It's about a time of social conscience. It's about myself and others living and surviving an unforgettable era..called Rock and Roll. In the years between 1950
and 1980, some of us did it all: smoke pot, go bra less, be Flower children, wear tie dyed clothes, join hippies, live in communes. But, mostly we just danced to the music, while dealing with rumors of UFO'S, civil unrest, Viet Nam, and our President being assassinated. My juxta positioning musicians with scenes of granduer and Pompeii opulence speaks for our curiosity of the famous, and the rich. I hope you can see the connection. CLICK ON PICTURES TO ENLARGE.

MORE CALICO CAROL'S CREATIONS

This gourd chose it's own decoration as I wood burned the natural lines, stained the gourd, used inks to color it , and laced it with leather.

Page one is the inspiration for a collage. Below, page two, I used watercolors for the background, added the crepe paper flower details and the words of inspiration.

Speaking of Roses, I re-created this small purse which was plain green. I cut the rose pattern from an old lace blouse, and stitched it on one side. With the same material, I made a gathered fringe for punch. The pictures are below.

PET PLATES FOR FAMILY MEMBERS

Something personal for pet lovers who think of their pets as part of their family. My dog Lacey sits in our front window all day, and with her white hair everyone who goes by sees her, and sometimes, if too close, hears her bark. Some people have told me that they always go out of their way when leaving our manufactured home park just to see Lacey in the window. One woman even said she misses seeing Lacey when she walks by early in the morning, as Lacey's not up yet in the window. So I decided to make Lacey an ID plate identifying our pet's home, like our addresses identify us. It gives me joy and I love working on this easy, new form of art.

From left top: Lacey with best friend, Tara on her left; then, my Lacey's blue plate. She's a mix between maltese and shi tzu; On the right is Baby's plate, she is a chihuahua; and below is the somewhat unique plate for Tara, who is also a shi tzu; on the right is my brother receiving his birthday gift from me, and a close up of his plate of Kayak, a Welsh Terrier.

MORE ZENTANGLE FUN

Zentangle name is registered.
A Zentangle can be started with or without a random drawn pencil line for inspiration.
Zentangles are in many shapes, and none are ever mistakes. No erasers needed, they are what they are, a work of art.

Calicocarol's Christmas ATC's

ATCs are Artist Trading Cards, and the size of a playing card. They are small works of art, done in many forms from collage, paints, etc. They are traded among artists and not sold. Art for art sake.

SELF REALIZATION

My time of self realization is a collage I made. The words say there is a little girl hidden inside me somewhere. I think each decade of my life I've made new discoveries about who I am for real inside. Some things are good, and some need work on. Who are you really?
